Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  Is Asheville Jet an Operator or a Broker and do you own your own fleet?
A: Asheville Jet is a Part 135 Operator and currently manages a fleet of 10 aircraft, 6 of which are available for charter. To better serve our customers, if one of our jets are unavailable and on another trip, we will act as your personal flight department / broker to find an available aircraft that fits your specific travel needs.

Q: How may I reserve an Aircraft?
A: Asheville charter coordinators are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at (770) 420-2727.

Q. What type of aircraft does Asheville Jet Charter offer for charter?
A. Presently, we have Gulfstream IISPs and Gulfstream IIIs; a Lear 35, and a BeechJet 400A available for charter.

Q. What does ARGUS/Gold mean?
A. Aviation Research is a company that offers several services, one of which is to conduct safety reports on Part 91, Part 121, and Part 135 companies.  They exercise due diligence and keep up with the current pilot flight training records, and aircraft reports generated on the charter company.  We are proud to remain consistently Gold in our compliance with their above average charter standards.

Q. Where can the aircraft fly?
A. Our Gulfstreams can usually fly non-stop from one end of the country to another, ie; Atlanta to Los Angeles in about 4 hours.  It can fly to points in Europe with one fuel stop in under 9 hours.  In compliance with the FAA , we are allowed to fly nationwide, Mexico, Canada, Bermuda, the Caribbean, Europe, South America, Central America,  and other countries internationally.
Our Lear 35 can fly nationwide, but, depending on the distance, might need a fuel stop.  It can also fly to Canada, Bermuda, Mexico and the Caribbean.

Q. What is the relationship of Southern Jet Management to Asheville Jet Charter?
A. When Jim Karlovich started Southern Jet Management, it was to manage and crew aircraft for a couple of aircraft owners.   As Southern Jet grew, Jim acquired Asheville Jet Charter & Management.  This allowed the aircraft owners to get charter revenue to offset costs of aircraft ownership.  It also was a means to offer Gulfstream charters in the Atlanta area.

Q. What if your aircraft is unavailable for a flight I need?
A. We will gladly assist in finding the size of aircraft you need to fly to your destination. Through our network of business acquaintances, and ARGUS/Gold peers, we have access to charter aircraft nationwide.

Q. What documents do I need to travel on a private charter?
A. For travel within the US, all that is needed is a govt. photo ID.  Outside the U.S., flying to Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean, a current passport is required.   You will be asked to show these documents upon boarding of the aircraft.
